The Harper government wants to push through a bill which unconstitutionally strips refugees of their rights identified in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Bill gives one person, the Minister of Immigration, unprecedented powers to decide the fate of asylum seekers, send people back to life threatening conditions, and even lock asylum seekers up for a year without so much as a hearing. Bill C-31 simply doesn’t reflect Canada’s shared values and must be stopped!
